Steven Skelton, Attorney At Law
Steven Skelton is recognized as one of the most accomplished trial attorneys in McLean County. Since 1976, when he became licensed to practice law in Illinois, Steve has tried well over 500 cases to juries in Bloomington and throughout Illinois. He has tried and won cases in state and federal court. Included among these cases are multiple homicide defenses, death penalty litigation, white-collar prosecutions, conspiracy charges, and cases involving complicated legal and factual matters. In addition, Steve has achieved distinction in the legal profession as an AV-Rated lawyer whose courtroom skills and ethical standards merit a high-to-preeminent peer-review rating. Steve is one of only a few attorneys to be qualified by the Illinois Supreme Court as a member of the Elite Capital Litigation Trial Bar. He was also awarded the prestigious Cunningham Award as Illinois’ best capital advocate in 2006.
Acquittals merit headlines and Steve has had many noteworthy results of this sort in the last 30 years. Hard work, dedication and commitment to clients’ best interests are hallmarks of Steve’s practice and he is well known not only as an advocate, but also as a skilled listener who is able to identify and effectively argue issues before judges and juries. Stephanie Wong, Attorney at Law
Stephanie Wong is a former prosecutor in McLean County. She began her legal career in the associate division prosecuting delinquency and abuse/neglect cases charged under the Juvenile Court Act and criminal misdemeanor cases. She was later assigned to the felony division and subsequently appointed chief of that division. She has successfully prosecuted offenders charged with serious felonies including first-degree murder, criminal sexual assault and armed robbery. She has satisfied and exceeded the requirements to be certified as lead counsel on the Capital Litigation Trial Bar.
Ms. Wong has received the LexisNexis – Martindale Hubbell prestigious AV rating. An AV® certification mark is a tribute to the fact that a lawyer's peers rank him/her at the highest level of professional excellence.
Stephanie’s background as a prosecutor affords her clients the advantage of representation by an attorney with extensive trial experience and with specialized knowledge of how prosecutors think and prepare for their cases.
She applied the skills she acquired as a prosecutor in the area of domestic litigation in Chicago and Kansas City, Missouri — handling custody, and visitation and modification issues.

- Former member of sex assault task force – McLean County

- In private practice in Chicago and Kansas City, MO, handling litigation in custody and visitation issues
Prior to joining Skelton & Wong, P.C., Joshua Rinker was an Assistant State’s Attorney at the McLean County State’s Attorney’s Office. During his time as a prosecutor, Mr. Rinker focused his career on the prosecution of traffic related crimes such as DUI, DUI Homicide, and Reckless Homicide. Additionally, he prosecuted cases involving drug related crime, as well as multiple felonies, and misdemeanor cases. Prior to becoming a prosecutor, Mr. Rinker worked for a civil litigation firm where he focused on complex business litigation, real estate law, estate litigation, and guardianship matters.
Josh earned his undergraduate degree from Illinois State University followed by a Masters in Business Administration (MBA). After his graduation from the John Marshall Law School, Joshua began his career in McLean County. His broad practice experience and work history provide him with a diverse background and extensive knowledge of both civil and criminal law. His research skills lend themselves to high achievement at pre-trial, trial and appellate stages of proceedings.
While attending law school Mr. Rinker focused his attention on litigation, wherein he served as the Presiding Barrister of the Trial Advocacy and Dispute Resolution Honors Board. Mr. Rinker went on to receive a certificate in Trial Advocacy which is reserved for those law students who have distinguished themselves by developing practical courtroom litigation skills.
In addition to his law practice, Mr. Rinker serves an Adjunct Professor at Illinois State University where he teaches Legal Research in the Paralegal Studies Program.
